About Roots of Faith
Roots of
Faith is an independent, religious educational ministry founded by Ross K.
Nichols.
Roots of
Faith seeks to promote a clearer understanding of the Bible and related history
through published materials and weekly teaching. While the ministry is
rooted in the ancient past, it seeks to grow and thrive in the present. It
therefore keeps a watchful eye on current events, recognizing the biblical
principle that "what has been is what shall be (Ecclesiastes 1:9)".
Roots of
Faith affirms the truths of the Hebrew Bible and seeks to understand and
interpret "earliest" Christianity from its original and thoroughly Hebraic
perspective. We maintain that the faith "once for all delivered unto the holy
ones" has not been revoked, annulled or superseded and that for those who have
eyes to see, it is still visible within the pages of the Bible.
We
believe that this ancient Hebraic faith can and should be restored by a
generation of seekers who are determined to live their lives according to the
Divine Blueprint for humanity in its simplest form, without addition or
deletion.
Roots of
Faith advocates a return to the Ancient fundamentals of Hebraic Faith for all of
humanity and is committed to the advancement of Biblical literacy for all of
Abraham's seed - whether literal or figurative.
Ross
Nichols is the founder and president of Roots of Faith. He is a student and
teacher of the Bible, placing special emphasis on Christian origins and Hebraic
studies. His primary field of interest is the Second Temple Period, specifically
as it relates to the study of Jesus and the movement that emerged in his name.
Aside from his studies in the Bible and Biblical literature, Ross is a student
of biblical Hebrew. He is a respected teacher of Ancient Hebrew Culture and
Torah or Law as understood and practiced in the early Church.
Any person who recognizes and accepts the
original Bible - the Bible that Jesus read, as the basis for his or her daily
conduct of life may become a brother or sister in Roots of Faith.
Membership is informal and open to all, irrespective of color, race, or creed.
What do I believe?
I put my faith in the God of Jesus –
commonly referred to as “the LORD”, but known by the designation YHWH in the
Hebrew Bible, and referred to by Jesus of Nazareth in the New Testament by the
Aramaic term Abba / father. This God is one, and beside him there is no other,
neither in heaven nor on earth. He is the Ancient of Days, El Shaddai, the God
of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
I
put my faith in the Bible that Jesus read – commonly referred to as the “Old
Testament”, but strictly and properly referred to as the Hebrew Bible or TaNaK,
an acronym formed by the first letters of three Hebrew words used to designate
the three main parts of the Hebrew Bible (Torah – Law, Neviim – the Prophets
and Ketuvim – the Writings).
I
put my faith in the authentic teachings and mission of Jesus – to bring about
the establishment of the Kingdom of God on earth, to seek and save the lost
sheep of the house of Israel (hitherto unaware of their true identity), and to
do and teach the Torah of YHWH.
